After watching all the commercials on TV we called Mr Sparky and asked about having an outdoor light fixed. Customer Service gave us a next day appointment and told us we did NOT need to have a new light fixture as their trucks come fully equipped. C/S told us the cost was $59. for a service call and assessment and at that time the electrician would quote on the repair. Next day the electrician called and appeared on time but had nothing in the truck, no light fixtures. He went directly to the fuse panel in the garage and proceeded to tell us that the whole panel needed to be replaced as it was a fire hazard (home is 9 years old). No instruments were used only his touch, saying it was hot. We live in SWF and the garage is not air conditioned. He gave us a quote of over $1100. NEVER ONCE did he look at the light outside or the switch inside the home. We said NO to his services, but he expected his $59. So we called Mr Sparky customer service and made a complaint while he was still in my home. They said that they would call the person still sitting in the truck? I was then informed there would be no cost, which was great because he had done Nothing. We have just had a local company come out and fix that light fixture and it was $125.00 NO MENTION was made of the fuse panel, because there is nothing wrong with it. This may well have been a one off there is no way of knowing but Mr Sparky needs to be aware that not all of their employee's are honest and I will never consider using their services in the future. If asked I will tell everyone of this shameful experience.
